Brantley | Milestone | 6 months

Wooooh Sally! Do I have a story for the books with this session!

Meet Brantley. He is 6 months old, and shares a birthday with my youngest son (February 10th!). But that isn’t even the wildest part of this story. You see, Brantley is new to the great state of Colorado; he was born in Tennessee. But his mommy, Courtney, and daddy, Danny, and I go waaaaaaay back to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri!

Courtney hired me to take photos at Danny’s basic training graduation from the Army in 2018! And then again at his AIT (specialty school) in February of 2019 (and we snuck in some special photos of mommy too!). All of this while they still lived in Tennessee, and never actually lived in Missouri lol!

Courtney and I actually hit it off, and continued to talk over the years. We had talked about vulnerability during her special session, and how they have struggled with fertility for quite some time. I sat and prayed with her that day, that she would be able to become a mom someday, somehow, and promised her that if that happened, I would be there to document it, no matter where in the world she was.

As the years passed, still no luck. They started the adoption process, and that never came to fruition. I prayed with her some more and sent her all of the baby dust vibes I could! Then finally, a miracle happened, and baby Brantley was a sticky baby!!! I remember her message telling me, and I cried the happiest of tears with her. Due to Covid, travel wasn’t going to be able to happen, so I helped her find suitable local photographers. Once restrictions started to lift, we started planning a trip (either myself to Tennessee, or them to Colorado, where I moved 3 years ago) for his first birthday photos in 2023.

Then the craziest thing happened: they got orders to go to Colorado Springs!!!! Just a mere 90 minutes from me!! So now I get to see this miracle baby boy grow up (as long as the Army lets me haha) and document everything. For a child I literally prayed for, with his momma, all those years ago.

It is a true testament to the bonds I build with my clients, and how invested I get in documenting their journeys. Everyone always has a story to tell, and I am so lucky to be part of so many stories.
